Employer Cash Incentive for Hiring Apprentices

Recently the Government has introduced an incentive to employers, which gives them a cash incentive of up to £4000 for hiring an apprentice. Velocity Academy have apprenticeships in Digital Marketing, Data Analysis, Data Technician, Business Admin, Customer Service & Personal Training. This incentive is a great way for employers to develop and invest further in their workforce.

How it works

Employers who hire an apprentice between 1st April 2021 and 30th September 2021 will receive £3000 per new hire, regardless of the apprentice’s age. If hiring an apprentice between 16-18 year old you will also receive an incentive of £1000. Which totals an cash payment of £4000.

Paying an apprentice

As an employer, it is your responsibility to pay the wages of your apprentice. The minimum hourly salaries are stated below.

• £4.30 if they are aged under 19 or in the first year of their apprenticeship.
• £6.56 if they are aged 19 to 20 and have completed the first year of their apprenticeship.
• £8.36 if they are aged 21 to 22 and have completed the first year of their apprenticeship.
• £8.91 if they are aged 23 or over and have completed the first year of their apprenticeship.
